Description:

A new world of Bach's music with the guitar challenged by the virtuoso Thibault Cauvin. French guitarist Thibault Cauvin's new album, "Bach," is an attempt to demonstrate once again the affinity between acoustic guitar and Bach's music, and includes Bach's most famous organ piece, "Toccata and Fugue," and the Chaconne, which depicts a profound musical world with a violin solo. The album includes Bach's most famous organ piece, the Toccata and Fugue; his Partita No. 2, including the Chaconne, in which he depicts a profound musical world as a solo violinist; and three preludes that he has arranged for guitar (and his brother has arranged the preludes). Thibault Cauvin describes the Bach Project album this way: "Johann Sebastian Bach is a great composer and a great musician. Recording the music of Johann Sebastian Bach is perhaps the greatest and greatest adventure for a musician, and to dive into his eternal and timeless notes is an overwhelming and moving experience. During the months of preparation for this piece, I recall losing my concept of time every morning and sinking into the score as if it were a map of the world. The ultimate journey is undoubtedly that great legendary Chaconne. For centuries, it has been a madcap delight to those who play it, and to the dreamers who listen to it. Like an explorer setting out in search of new lands, when you strike the first chord on that great ocean, you feel as if you have embarked on a wondrous voyage from the shore.Traveling to other places, inside and outside myself, in space and time, has always been my philosophy of life, and at the same time I have an intuitive attachment to my age and my roots. So it was impossible not to devote part of the disc to "being creative". My brother, Jordan Cauvin, at my insistence, eventually accepted to boldly rework three of Bach's preludes and offer a "recomposition" that is different from Bach's. Bach's music can be scholarly, cerebral, and impressive, but it is also obvious and universal. I wanted to rediscover the wisdom of my childhood by recording this album in the Dordogne region, where I used to go on vacations as a child. So here I present to you a recording of the sounds of Bach, day and night, in a small church with wonderful acoustics, as if I were handing you a map leading to a treasure." (1/2) Sony Music
