This is the third album to the German Harmonia Mundi by "Axantus Austria," formed in 1988 and involved in performing the secret music of Austria's Baroque period. the Habsburgs in Vienna in the late 1600s, Leopold I (1640-1705) was nearly 50 years, This was the heyday of the Austrian Baroque. When Leopold I was young, Vienna was still strongly influenced by Spanish culture, but many Italian court singers and performers were invited to Vienna. The Italians occupied opera in particular, but the German Johann Heinrich Schmelzer was active in ballets and marches, and he left his mark as the greatest Austrian composer of ballets of the 18th century. (He was succeeded by Fuchs and others.) Such music was improvised and arranged by clown thespians. Thomas Wimmer arranged such music, and the small ensemble of "Aksantus Austria" will perform it in a stylish manner, incorporating some folkloric elements. Sony Music
