Three years after the release of *Diamond Mine*—a collaboration with electronic artist John Hopkins, who is also known for his work as a producer for Coldplay, and which earned a nomination for the 2013 Mercury Prize, the UK’s most prestigious music award—King Creosote, a singer-songwriter from Fife, Scotland, Fife, has released her latest album, *From Scotland with Love*! Produced using a rich array of instruments—including keyboards, drums, bass, clarinet, a string section, and backing vocals—this album was recorded at Chem19 Studio, owned by the Glasgow-based label Chemikal Underground and previously used by Mogwai, with production by David McCollay (Mogwai, among others) and Paul Savage (Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand) served as producers. It is the most sophisticated and cinematic work he has released to date, encompassing themes surrounding contemporary society—such as “love, war, resistance, immigration, work, and play”—to create an album that paints a grand soundscape. Along with the album, a documentary film has been produced and is scheduled to be screened this summer at the Commonwealth Games, a multi-sport event held every four years with participation from regions across the United Kingdom.
