The Hexagon Ensemble, a "woodwind quintet + piano" sextet formed in 1991 by members of major Dutch orchestras, has recorded nine well-received CDs of beautiful chamber music for winds and piano. The ensemble has also toured the United States, Russia (including the Republic of Bashkortostan), Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Slovenia, and England. The repertoire of 4000(!) pieces, ranging from lesser-known works by well-known composers to works by unknown composers, has been developed by flutist Wout van den Berg. From a repertoire of some 4,000 (!) pieces by well-known composers to works by unknown composers, this album couples six works composed between 1784 and 1823, the period of the Viennese Classical Period and the transition to the early Romantic period.
