Description:

The highlight of Mozart Week 2015 was the much-talked-about collaboration between equestrian artists Bartabas and Minkowski, the founder of the equestrian art group "Zingaro (Gypsies)" and the team of the Equestrian Academy, established in 2003 by Bartabas in the grand stables of the Palace of Versailles. The highlight of 2015 was a performance by Marc Minkowski with the team of the Equestrian Academy, established in 2003 in the grand stables of the Palace of Versailles by Bartabas, founder of the equestrian art group "Zingaro (Gypsy)". The Versailles Equestrian Academy trains not only in equestrian skills, but also in fencing, dance, singing, and archery, and their shows are noted for their highly artistic performances that bring people and horses together. Their harnesses are provided by Hermes, and they collaborate with world-class musicians and perform not only in Europe but also in Japan. The main program of this video is the cantata "David the Repentant. This cantata was composed for the Society of Musical Artists of Vienna, of which Mozart had long hoped to become a member. However, Mozart was so busy that he did not have enough time to submit the work by the deadline, so he decided to adapt the "Great Mass" K427, and submitted it with the Italian lyrics of "Da Ponte" (as it is said) written into the score of the "Great Mass".Minkowski had been very interested in Zingaro's performances for some time, and he enthusiastically persuaded Mr. Bartabas to realize this concert for this Mozart Week performance. The "Theater for Mozart" where the concert was held is a former riding school (Felsenreit-Schule), so it can be said that the original purpose of the concert has been restored. The production is tailored to each scene of the cantata, which consists of 10 pieces, and the movements, lighting, and costumes are a true representation of Mozart's music, not only visually beautiful but also very appealing and emotionally expressive.
