Following "Resurrection" (No. 2) and "Tragic" (No. 6), this is the first time that Barbirolli and the Berlin Philharmonic have recorded Mahler's Symphony No. 3 on CD! Since the success of the historic 9th Symphony in 1963, Barbirolli has been regarded as a "Mahler evangelist" in Berlin, and his last performances of Mahler with the BPO on March 8 and 9, "No. 3", were also very impressive.
