It contains five pieces from the nine sonatas for five-course guitar published in Bergamo in 1692 under the title "Capricci Armonici sopra la Chitarra Spagnola (Harmonious Capriccios for Spanish Guitar)". The final track, "Passacaglia," was made famous by its use in Respighi's "Old Dances and Arias for Lute. Italian musician and poet Simone Pansolin originally studied as a classical guitarist at the Paganini and Tartini Conservatories, and since 2007 has specialized in playing the lute, early guitar, and theorbo, focusing especially on the music of the Italian Baroque.In 2021 he released a collection of rare tablature lute sonatas by Giovanni Zamboni; in 2022 he received the Giorgio Ferraris Prize.
