The legendary first album by Jon Hassell, a regular on the ambient/minimal masterpieces list and a work that even Brian Eno has lavishly praised, has finally been remastered and reissued. As the title suggests, the long-awaited reissue is scheduled for March 20, 2020 (Friday) on his own label, Ndeya. This album, selected by Pitchfork as one of the 50 best ambient albums of all time, is Jon Hassell's first official release on the Lovely Music label, released in 1977. At the same time, it is also the first work in the "Fourth World" series, a fusion of field recordings, electric jazz, ambient, and world music based on the concept of merging the West with the non-West, and a work that will remain extremely important in the history of experimental music.Starring Hassell's trademark sound of a mysterious, acoustically signal-processed trumpet, the piece features percussion by Nana Vasconcelos, a world-renowned Brazilian percussionist, and an electronic musician known as a pioneer in biofeedback music, The supreme ensemble, including the world-renowned Brazilian percussionist Nana Vasconcelos on percussion and David Rosenboom on synthesizer, creates a serene, meditative, and original sonic beauty. This reissue is the first time in 42 years that the analog version of the album is being released on vinyl, and is based on the original master tapes.
