Description:
Jazz legend Wayne Shorter passed away in March 2023 at the age of 89. Since his emergence in the bands of Art Blakey and Miles Davis, he has always been at the top of the jazz scene, and even after his death, he continues to have a great influence on many musicians. This is the first of a quartet of previously unreleased archive recordings supervised by the late Mr. Kurtzman, who had been planning the release of these recordings with the prestigious Blue Note label even before his death. This is the first official work after his death. The contents are the first live recordings by his steadfast quartet with Danilo Perez (p), John Patitucci (b), and Brian Braid (ds), which has produced many legendary performances since its formation in 2001, including a performance at the Stockholm Jazz Festival on October 18, 2014. The performance was recorded at the Stockholm Jazz Festival on October 18, 2014. The performance is captured in a sublime, white-hot performance, and is one of the finest of his career.
