The Sleeping Beauty is a fairy tale written by the French poet Perrault based on a folk tale. Ivan Vsevoloshsky, president of the Imperial Theatre in St. Petersburg, wrote the script, Tchaikovsky added the music, and Marius Petipa of the Russian Imperial Ballet choreographed the choreography. Unfortunately, after Tchaikovsky's death, it did not gain much popularity outside of Russia, but it became very popular when it was premiered in London in 1921, and then in 1946, the year the Royal Opera House reopened following the end of World War II, the Royal Ballet It was premiered by the Royal Ballet in 1946, the year the Royal Opera House reopened at the end of World War II, and has become one of the company's most popular ballet performances. Various principal dancers have danced the role of Princess Aurora, but Marianela Nunez's dance in this production is exceptional and truly a timeless performance.
