The presence of cello players and composers such as Pablo Casals, who was a master cellist and composer, is indispensable when discussing Catalan music of the first half of the 20th century. This album includes works by Casals, "Sonatas in the Spanish Classical Style" and "Words of Love" by Gaspar Casado, a pupil of Casals, "Goiescas" by Granados, a little before Casals, "Songs and Dances" by Montpauw, arranged by Casado for cello and piano, and "Pasadena" by Casado, a contemporary composer. The collection also includes a tribute to Montpau by the contemporary composer Casablancas, and other pieces with a variety of connections. All are passionate music.
