Description:
This is a collection of rare small pieces by Schumann (1810-1856). The pieces are fragments that we rarely hear, and although they were written in a wide range of ages, we can sense Schumann's unique introspective melodies and anguish in all of them. The Variations on a Theme from the Second Movement of No. 7, arranged for piano by Diabelli, was partially published by Schumann's wife Clara after his death, but was not completed until 1976, making it a rare piece not included in previous collections of Schumann's works. Other works, such as variations on his own themes, are also valuable to researchers. Recorded in 2015 with Oliver Shaws at the piano. (C)RS
