Description:
British composer Richard Addinsell is best known for "Warsaw Concerto," the theme song of the 1941 film "Dangerous Moonlight. After studying at Oxford University Hertford, he went on to the Royal College of Music in 1925, and further musical training in Berlin, Vienna, and the U.S. He was active mainly in the field of film music, and wrote spectacular music for "Farewell Mr. Chips" and "A Tale of Two Cities". This album features some of his best-known film music, including the concerto form of "Smoky Mountains" and other interesting pieces. The music is full of pleasant melodies that are sure to captivate the listener. The orchestration of the radio play "Apple Island" was done by Roy Douglas, who also orchestrated "Warsaw Concerto. The strings play a beautiful tune over a mysterious harp accompaniment. Naxos Japan
