A gorgeous, beautiful, and blissful Christmas performance by the famous soprano Deanna Damrau. She came to Japan with her son and babysitter, and led the Metropolitan Opera's moving performance to a great success, which increased her popularity in Japan. Today, she is one of the most internationally renowned sopranos from Germany. Her repertoire ranges from lyric soprano to coloratura soprano, and includes "Lucia di Lammermoor," "Manon," "La Traviata," Gilda in "Rigoletto," and the Queen of the Night in "The Magic Flute. The opera houses with which he has worked include La Scala in Milan, the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Vienna Opera House. The Bavarian State Opera, with which he has a close relationship, has awarded him the title of court singer. This is Damrau's first Christmas album, and it is a sumptuous one: on Disc 1 are many Christmas carols orchestrated by composer Richard Wiles, and on Disc 2 are a selection of Bach carols. Disc 2 features arias from Christmas-related works by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Franck, and Adan.The selection of songs, as well as the operas, is a wonderful demonstration of Damrau's insight and her voice, especially the joyous celebration of the birth of Christ at Christmas! The booklet contains lyric cards in the original languages of the singers, but not bilingual translations in other languages.
