Dr. Kuzumi Hiroshi, a 16-year-old boy, lives in Chang'e Town, a new town in the mountains far from the city center. A river divides the old town from the new town, and there are still many local cultures and customs that remain shrouded in mystery. Dr. Kato was not a conspicuous figure, but his classmates cared for him to an unbelievable degree. Dr. Kushinada is bewildered by this environment and enjoys his new life, but he is concerned that only one person, Nemuru Kushinada, who serves as a class committee member, is clearly keeping her distance from him. In one of the few contacts she has with Dr. Kushinada, she advises him to "stay away from the old town. What is there? ... and fear and mystery intersect.
