Live with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the 1960s. This is a rare CD that offers the charm of a performance in Böhm's heyday, which is completely different from studio recordings. (A CD-R was once released on the overseas minor VIBRATO label, but the source of this sound source is different. (This is the first commercial release.) "Coriolan" was recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic (BPO) in 1958 and with the Vienna Philharmonic (VPO) in 1970, and "Fate" with the BPO in 1953 and with the VPO in 1970, all for Deutsche Grammophon (DGG), but this live performance with the VPO in 1966 is powerful and full of spirit. The performance is powerful and full of spirit. From the opening "Coriolan," the performance is tense and dramatic. The scale of "Fate" became even more massive, and the hall seemed to be filled with the magnificent sound of the VPO. In the "Scherzo," the low strings surge forward, and in the finale, the entire ensemble is united in an unbelievable power that is unparalleled in the world. [CD2] - "Brahms No. 3" performed at the Salzburg Festival in 1963. This is the world premiere. (The program that day was an all-Brahms program, with "Haydn Variations" and "Concerto No. 1" played by Hans Richter-Haeser on piano.)The Symphony No. 3 was recorded by the VPO and DGG in 1975, and Böhm's performance in his prime in the 1960s was exceptional. The first movement is full of power and intensity, while the second and third movements are at a slower tempo and express deep emotion. The strings and winds playing the famous melody of melancholy is breathtaking! The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's beautiful sound is a delight to behold. The finale is a huge burst of pent-up energy! Digitally mastered at King Sekiguchidai Studio from open reel tapes provided by Epitagraph. Although some tape hiss remains on each track, the sound quality is generally well-balanced with a low center of gravity.
