Description:

Benjamin Schmidt recorded Beethoven's concerto with Hazelbeck's Vienna Academy Orchestra! All movements are played with cadenzas by Wu-Tang! The coupling is Beethoven's "Andante Cantabile" arranged by Liszt! The latest release from the Vienna Academy Orchestra led by Martin Haselböck features Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the violin prodigy Benjamin Schmidt as soloist and Beethoven's Andante Cantabile arranged by Liszt for orchestra! Born in Vienna, Schmidt has won numerous international competitions. In the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition in 1992, he won the first prize, the prize for the best Mozart and Beethoven concerto, and the audience prize. In addition to his active performing career, Schmidt is also known for his many recordings, and his repertoire is one of the richest as a classical violinist, ranging from Bach to contemporary and jazz improvisation, captivating his audiences.Schmidt has finally recorded Beethoven's concerto! The Beethoven concertos played with the prestigious Vienna Academy Orchestra under Hazelbeck's precise interpretation are exceptional, and the fluidity of the violin tone can be said to be the expression of the best performer of his time. What is even more remarkable is that all the movements are played with cadenzas written by Vladimir Wuertin! Henri Wuertin (1820-1881), a Belgian violinist and composer active in France, became friends with Schumann and Spohr in the 1830s, and later became active as a violinist and composer. In his later years, he produced violinists and composers such as Ysaÿe. Wuertan is known for his gorgeous works with beautiful melodies and brilliant performance effects, and Wuertan's cadenzas for Beethoven's works are also very much in the Wuertan style. The cadenza is a tribute to his beloved Beethoven. This performance clearly shows Schmidt's intention to use Wuertan's cadenzas for all movements. It is a most welcome recording! About the coupling Andante Cantabile, Haselbeck says, "Already a virtuoso pianist, Liszt arranged Beethoven's complete symphonies for solo piano between 1837 and 1864. He also arranged the third movement "Andante cantabile" of Beethoven's Piano Trio No. 7 in B-flat major, Op. 97, known as the "Grand Duke," for orchestra. Along with Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy (piano and orchestra version), this arrangement of the Andante Cantabile proves that the composer Liszt mastered a unique and excellent orchestral technique," says King International
