She has entrusted the emotions she couldn’t fully convey through the saxophone alone to a new form of expression: “song.” ParvaPausa—Latin for “a brief pause.” This four-track EP was born from the desire to offer a moment to pause briefly amid the hustle and bustle of daily life and surrender to the music. Shoyo Nayuki, who has been active as a saxophonist, combines her warm saxophone tones with a crystal-clear singing voice on this album. It is a work that conveys emotions she couldn’t fully express through the saxophone alone, using the new medium of “song.” The recording features musical colleagues with whom she has performed for over a decade. The natural interplay born from the trust built over many years, along with a free musical dialogue rooted in mutual respect, lends this work a warm, living quality. May these four songs—each reflecting a different landscape—gently accompany you through your daily life and become your very own “ParvaPausa” (a small respite).
