The second installment of Poema, a series directed by Alexander Sherry that juxtaposes Richard Strauss's symphonic poems with contemporary works to explore the symphonic poem form and the potential of the orchestra as a tool for storytelling. This is the second installment of the "Poema" series. Included with the Nietzsche-inspired "Zarathustra" is "1Q84," a work by Canadian composer Ian Cusson inspired by Haruki Murakami. The theme is the fundamental question of existence that Strauss challenges together through the cosmic lens of Nietzsche and Cusson through Murakami's dreamy, internal narrative.
