Description:
British pianist Leon McCauley, who specializes in Romantic and modern works, won the first prize at the Beethoven International Piano Competition in 1993 and the second prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition the same year, launching his international career. In this album, she tackles Schumann's masterpieces and skillfully performs the lyrical and dreamy "Children's Scenes," the diverse "Symphonic Exercises," and the humorous "The Clown at the Carnival in Vienna," each of which expresses Schumann's inner world. In the "Symphonic Exercises," Schumann's unique attempt to insert the "Five Variations," usually placed at the end of the piece, into the middle of the piece is also noteworthy. Naxos Japan
