Description:

From Wagner’s infinite melodies to elegant chansons. A world of transcriptions where every piece takes center stage! Kotaro Fukuma’s 21st album, *The World of Piano Transcriptions*, features piano arrangements of a wide variety of musical works from across time and cultures, ranging from art songs to opera, ballet, and chansons. The album features the grand piece *"Prelude to Tristan und Isolde" (Wagner)*, arranged by Fukuma himself; *"Ave Maria" (Bach-Gounod)* and *"Danse des Heures" (Ponchielli)*, arranged by the late Walter Flemings, whose sheet music publication Fukuma supported; "Recollections of Turandot" (Puccini) by Leslie Howard, a Liszt scholar, and Fukuma’s signature repertoire, the "Chanson Medley," which has been requested by fans worldwide—all 14 tracks are star-studded highlights. This album showcases a new frontier in Fukuma’s artistry and career, as he challenges the boundaries of piano expression by combining his deep love for music, keen insight, and advanced technical skill. The recording took place from January 21 to 23, 2026, at the Vienna Hall of the Fuchu no Mori Arts Theater in Tokyo, with the cooperation of the Kawai Music Foundation, using the selected by Fukuma himself.
