Here comes the 12th album by Finnish folk metal band Korpiklaani. The leader of the band, Jönne, declares, "It's a fast-paced album like the old Korpi". Accordions and violins flying around, this is Korpi, this is folk metal! The band's vocalist Jönne Järvära, who is still the face of the band, formed Shamaani Duo in 1993. In 1996, they made their album debut with "Hunka Lunka". The album was a work of folk music without any metal elements, featuring acoustic guitar, keyboards, percussion, and singing called "yoik. The following year, in 1997, Shamaani Duo transformed into the band Shaman by adding a bassist and a drummer, and in 1999, the album "Idja" was released, with heavier guitars and a metal flavor. Later, Yonne guested on Finntroll's album, which accelerated the metalization of the band.In 2003, the band introduced violin, accordion, and flute, and switched vocal styles from ethnic to metal. This was the birth of Korpiklaani as we know it today. That same year, the band signed with Austrian major Napalm Records and released their debut album, "Spirit of the Forest," under the name Korpiklaani. They quickly became one of Finland's leading metal bands. After releasing four albums on Napalm, "Voice of Wilderness" (2005), "Tales Along This Road" (2006), and "Tervaskanto" (2007), the band moved to one of the best metal labels, Nuclear Blast Records. The band's popularity has remained unshakable. Now they have released their twelfth album, "Korpi and the Journey to the New World". The album was produced with the addition of Olli Vanska, a violinist from the Finnish folk metal band Turisas, as a new member.When we started making this album, we set a goal. Our recent albums, especially 'Nordic Korpi Solo Journey' in '18, were a bit slow overall, so we wanted to make a faster tempo album this time. Like the old Korpiklaani."
