Hong Tong, beloved for her small stature, childlike face, and dainty personality, was known as a moh ram (moh means "master" and ram means "master storyteller," a name that refers to both the singer and the art form). Moram is the name for both the singer and the art of storytelling. Morlam is not "singing. The name is derived from the Thai song genre of "molam", which is a combination of Issan (the home of the song) and luk tung (a unique Thai song genre formed by absorbing Thai regional music and rock, Latin, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian, etc. music). She is a mysterious diva who suddenly retired at the height of her popularity, while she was active in the middle of two major genres, luk tung and luuk tung, and became a model for the next generation of singers in the 1980s and beyond. Her music was an early masterpiece of big-name producer Doi intanon, and the duo released works that broke the rules of the day. This best extracts her truly extensive repertoire, which spans Moram/Lukutun, with a selection of songs by the trusted Soi48, and conveys her appeal in an easy-to-understand manner. The album includes upper tunes such as "Bump Lam Phloen," a disco infused moram tune that was a big hit, and her signature song, the eternal moram killer "Hongthong Khanong Lam," as well as luuk thung numbers, a fantastic self-produced single (with great content), and a beautiful cover of "Apple Chase. The album also includes a beautiful cover of "Ringo Oiwake". Another highlight is Soi48's commentary based on direct interviews with Hong Tong, which reveals the untold story of his life.
