French artist Ezechiel Pailhes, who also gained prominence as a member of the electronic duo "Noze," is set to release his 2026 album via "CircusCompany," the renowned French electronic label known for releases by dOP and early works by Nicolas Jaar. One of France’s foremost musical geniuses, who has gained widespread popularity across genres with his unique style—blending synth-pop and post-classical elements with laid-back dance beats and French vocals—has now incorporated Brazilian music (MPB) to pioneer yet another new frontier. The album features relatively lesser-known gems from the mid-20th-century samba and bossa nova era, written or performed by Brazil’s great composers and musicians such as Vinicius de Moraes, João Gilberto, Ton Ze, Dorival Caymmi, João Donato, Os Cinco, and Ataúlo Alves. Some tracks were recorded in Rio de Janeiro, featuring guest appearances by talented musicians representing the current Brazilian music scene, including Kainan do Jeje, a member of Caetano Veloso’s band, as well as Alberto Continentino, Antônio Neves, and Eduardo Neves. This is a delightful work that offers a modern update to the fusion of chanson, French pop, bossa nova, and MPB—a style pioneered by French artists such as Henri Salvador, Moustaki, and Pierre Barouh.
