Ensemble Correspondances
Description:
Dosse & Ensemble CorrespondancesDosse & Ensemble Correspondances have been presenting music from the late Renaissance and Baroque periods in France from a new perspective, such as "Ballet of the Night King" (HMC 952223/ KKC 5494), a reconstruction of the musical life at the Louvre Palace. This time, under the title of "Les Plaisirs de Louvre - The Pleasures of the Louvre," a piece that brilliantly reconstructs the musical activities that took place at the Louvre is now available. Before Versailles (1682), the center of the French dynasty was the Louvre. It was a theater where ceremonies, accompanied by music, were held to show the power of the nobility. During the reign of Louis XIII, the Airs de Coeur (Court Songs, or Court Songs), a short, verse-based song with a lute, was performed at the Louvre. Composers such as Moulinier, Guédron, and Chancy were called upon to write short songs for the court and for ballet music. Here, the Ensemble Correspondances, led by Sébastien Dosé, focuses on Antoine Boisset, the best of them all, and recreates the liturgical music that was performed at the Louvre, focusing on Boisset's works. It also includes music by Louis XIII himself, Louis XIV, famous for his art. This is a disc in which you can enjoy the voices of the graceful singing members, as well as the wonders of the ensemble with instrumental music.
