Kirill Karabits is now available at Chandos! The first in the new series is a collection of works by Kara Kalaev! ! The young Ukrainian, who has been the Principal Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra since 2008, and in 2016 he was appointed Music Director & Chief Conductor of the Deutsches Nationaltheater and StaatskapelleWeimar (German National Theatre Weimar), has attracted a lot of attention. He has also been appointed as Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Deutsches Nationaltheater and StaatskapelleWeimar. Karabits will make his first appearance at Chandos, launching a new series dedicated to unknown composers from the former Soviet Union. The first volume is a collection of orchestral works by Azerbaijan's Kara Kalaev (1918-1982), who studied with Shostakovich at the Moscow Conservatory and was an important composer in the postwar Soviet Union. Karabits studied major works in preparation for the centennial of Kalaev's birth in 2018. Karabits's lucid tact brings Kalaev's lyrical and colorful works, derived from ballets by Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and others, and operas by Rimsky-Korsakov, to life. Tokyo M-Plus
