The Goldner String Quartet was formed in the name of Piers Lane, an Australian intellectual pianist active in the UK, and Richard Goldner, founder of Musica Viva Australia. This renowned Australian duo has recorded a diverse range of piano quintets, from Elgar and Bridge to Taneyev & Arensky, Pierné, Dvořák, Bruch, Bloch, and Borodin. Lane & Goldner SQ's newest foray reaches into the unknown chamber music of early 20th-century England. The Piano Quintet by Frederic Delanger (1868-1943), a composer born in Paris, a naturalized British citizen, and a banker and patron of artists, and Thomas Dunhill (1877-1946), a composer who was also the brother of the founder of the British luxury brand Dunhill. Both are little-known composers, but this fine work conveys the joy of the fresh and accessible English chamber music that colored the dawn of the 20th century. Tokyo M-Plus
