The legendary live recording "Live at the Matrix" has been eagerly awaited by Doors fans, and now it is finally available on 3 CD set containing the original master tapes!

When it was released on 2CD in 2008, it contained 24 songs based on "grandchild copies" (3rd generation tapes). Later, the original master tapes (1st generation recordings) were discovered and included in the Record Store Day limited edition and in the "Set Your Heart on Fire (50th Anniversary Deluxe Japanese Edition)" released in 2017, 1967 The March 7, 1967 show was included on the March 7, 1967 album with only eight songs, but this album includes a total of 37 songs from the two days of the show, March 7 and 10, 1967.

Very early in their career, the Doors played a show at a small hole-in-the-wall club called the Matrix, which was co-owned by Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane. At the time, there was an unspoken understanding that when an L.A. band came to San Francisco, they had to play at the Matrix as a sort of "pay it forward" tribute to the bands that had established the local scene. The Doors happily complied, and Peter Abram, the club's co-owner, recorded the band's two performances on March 7 and March 10, 1967. The set list includes popular Doors covers such as "Gloria," which influenced them in the creation of original songs like "Break on Through (To the Other Side)" and defined their sound, and the blues classic "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)." The album also includes a cover of the song. Both shows were released once before, but after their release it was discovered that they were made from so-called "grandchild copies" (3rd generation tapes) of the original live recordings. Over the years, The Doors tracked down the original master tapes (1st generation recordings), and now, for the first time, the two nights are being released in their entirety. Since some of the live recordings from the original master tapes have only been released as Record Store Day exclusive products and on the "Light Your Heart on Fire (50th Anniversary Deluxe Japanese Edition)" released in 2017, this release is sure to be a hot topic of conversation. This release is sure to be a hit. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the live recordings of both shows on the original master tapes, and are looking forward to this release.
