A Classic New Zealand Trip-Hop Album, Released on Vinyl for the First Time After 22 Years "The88," the debut album by Minuit, a trio from Nelson, New Zealand. Formed in 1997, the band gained experience playing at clubs and festivals across the South Island before beginning production on this album in 2002 at Ryan’s home studio. They established a unique sound by fusing lyrics influenced by their travels across Europe and Ruth’s work with the United Nations (in Kosovo and East Timor) with beats inspired by UK trip-hop and breakbeat artists such as The Prodigy and Portishead. Following its release on the indie label Tardus, the album’s popularity grew thanks to heavy airplay on the student radio station bNet and the television channel C4, eventually achieving gold sales. Now, 22 years after its release, to coincide with the band’s return to live performances, the album has been released on vinyl for the first time, featuring two previously unfinished tracks that have been newly completed and added to the collection.
