Tenor Christophe Pregardien's Schumann, Wolf, and Mahler Lieder, sung with purity and intelligence, is now available in a 2-CD set of the Schumann, Wolf, and Mahler Lieder recorded by tenor Christophe Pregardien in 2005 and 2006. Pregardien was 50 years old at the time of recording, and his lyrical singing has been refined. In Schumann's masterpiece Leader Kreis, the beauty of the music as well as the German pronunciation is outstanding. The selection of Wolff's works is also heartbreaking, with a collection of works by poems by Eichendorff, the same poet as the poet of the Leaderice. And in the Mahler songs, Pregardien charmed the audience with her characteristic soft and clean singing. The beauty of the music is mesmerizing. Michael Goeth (Gies), Pregardien's highly trusted pianist, won first prize at the Steinway Competition in Hamburg and the Salzburg Mozarteum Scholarship Competition in 1961. He is especially highly acclaimed for his vocal accompaniments, and his German Lieder with Pregardien have received rave reviews.His November 2018 visit to Japan with Pregardien was also well received.
