The first stage of post-Corona recordings begins a series exploring the works of Breschanello! La Serenissima is a period ensemble founded in 1994 by Adrian Chandler, one of Britain's foremost baroque violinists." La Serenissima is a period ensemble founded in 1994 by Adrian Chandler, one of the UK's leading baroque violinists, and has won two Gramophone Awards for its world premiere recordings of unknown and rediscovered works by composers from 18th century Venice and its surroundings, including Vivaldi, the "Red-Haired Priest." ("Serenissima" means "a sunny place," which is another name for Venice, Serenissima" is another name for Venice, meaning "a sunny place"). The previous album "Settecento" (SIGCD663) was recorded in February 2020, and after the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19, which led to the cancellation of all concerts and recordings, the first "post-Corona" recording of Breschanello's music has finally begun.Italian composer & violinist Giuseppe Antonio Breschanello (c.1690-1758), a Kapellmeister at the Württemberg court in Stuttgart, was a contemporary of Vivaldi, but his music remains relatively obscure. While some composers are shrouded in history for good reason, Breschanello's music had many compelling arguments to be restored. La Serenissima first featured Breschanello in its 2014 season and has since performed his opera "Thisbe" and recorded his violin concerto ("Extra Time" [SIGCD641]) and trio sonata ("Settecento" [SIGCD663]). The "Opus 1" on this album is a collection of 12 concertos and sinfonias, the only group of works Breschanello has chosen to publish, and the popularity of COVID-19 has given La Serenissima the opportunity to begin researching this fine publication.The title "Behind Closed Doors" translates directly as "behind closed doors," and from there it can also mean "in secret" or "in secret," but in the world of sports and theater it refers to "non-spectator games" or "non-spectator performances. The recording sessions on this album are as lively as a superb "no-attendance live" performance. Tokyo M-Plus
