Carl's new album, "Introducing Carl Blau," his first release in seven years, is a collection of covers, mainly Nashville country/soul from the late 60s and early 70s. Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists), the producer of this album, explains why he chose to use that title now, after more than 20 years in his career. Despite having an extensive catalog, I feel like there are still people who haven't had the opportunity to hear Carl's music. I hope this album will help change that. It all started with a cover of Tom T. Hall's 1969 hit "That's How I Got to Memphis" for a 7-inch. Carl's resonant voice and Martine's warm, modern arrangement brought new life to the classic hit. Impressed by its perfection, Martine proposed a full-length album with Karl, and "Introducing Karl Blau" was the result. This album features guest appearances by Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Laura Veirs, John Hyde, Eli Moore (Lake), and Steve Moore (Earth, Sun O))))).Songs include covers by Tom T. Hall, Bobby Bond, Allen Reynolds, the Bee Gees, Link Wray and Towne Van Zandt.
