Queen, Maurice Bejart and Versace have come together to release a film of the 1997 rock ballet performance "Ballet for Life," a historic mega-collaboration that fused Queen's classic songs with the best of modern ballet and fashion. The collaboration between the inimitable rock band Queen, the unmistakable fashion brand Versace, and the modern ballet star Maurice Béjart resulted in a rock ballet performance in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1997, and a documentary that captures the production process from its inception to the success of the performance. The film includes a documentary on the rock ballet performance in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1997 in collaboration with Maurice Béjart, the great star of the ballet. Queen and Béjart lost frontman Freddie Mercury and top ballet dancer Georges Donn to AIDS in the 1990s, and longtime friend Gianni Versace to a shooting that occurred shortly after a performance in Lausanne. The film was made under their joint names. The documentary was directed by Lynne Wake and Simon Lupton.Footage featuring Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Wayne Sleep, Arlene Phillips, Maurice Bejart, Gianni Versace, and more. The film also includes footage from the premiere performance of "Ballet For Life" (with Elton John) in Paris, France, which was John Deacon's last performance as a member of Queen.
