Paul McCartney achieved worldwide success as a member of The Beatles; after the band’s breakup, he formed his own band, Wings, and continues to perform today as a solo musician. Even now, more than half a century after his debut, he remains active and has had a tremendous influence on popular music. He is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as “the most successful songwriter in the history of popular music.” His 18th solo album, *The Boys of Dungeon Lane*, was released on May 29, 2026. Now, a rare live archive from his Wings era has been released!
After The Beatles broke up, Paul McCartney released his second solo album, *Ram* (original title: *Ram*), in May 1971, which was just as successful as his previous album. Paul McCartney then formed Wings in August of that same year to pursue live performances. In December of that year, he released the Wings album *Wings: Wild Life* (original title: *Wild Life*). In 1973, the band’s name was changed to Paul McCartney & Wings. As his work with Wings gained momentum, he continued to produce solo albums in parallel. Amidst this, he released *Back to the Egg* in 1979, which would become the band’s final album, and embarked on a tour of 20 concerts exclusively in the UK to promote this new album. The final concert of the tour, held on December 17 in Glasgow, Scotland, was recorded and broadcast as a special program on BBC Radio. This live album features the audio from that broadcast and includes the encore.
Featuring a special setlist centered on Wings songs, along with Paul McCartney’s solo tracks and Beatles songs, this is a magnificent finale to Wings’ career!
