Carl Czerny, now known as the composer of piano exercises, was a pupil of Beethoven, Clementi, and Hummel, and a teacher of Liszt, who was highly popular in 19th century Vienna for his fashionable works and gained fame for developing new piano playing techniques in his numerous exercises. This album contains the world premiere recording of his music. This album contains the world premiere recordings of three of his works: the Piano Concertino of 1824, a bright, light-hearted work published by Diavelli, and the Piano Concerto of 1825, a work for piano and piano for piano. The first movement, with its rising scales, is very exercise-like, but the second movement is filled with a beautiful melody reminiscent of the slow movement of Mozart's Concerto No. 21, and concludes with a delightful polonaise rhythm in the third movement. The Concertino, Op. 650, is the last work in this form. The concertino, Op. 650, is the last work in this form, and it incorporates an introduction and rondo in a single movement.
