In 1872, Debussy (1862-1918) entered the Paris Conservatory. He formally began his musical studies. He originally wanted to be a pianist, but gave up after failing to win a prize two years in a row. 1878 he began composing and wrote several pieces, and in 1880 he accompanied Madame Meck, who is known to have been a great influence on him. It was said that few pieces written during this period have survived, but as you know, some of his piano pieces were discovered and published in 2002, helping to recreate the young Debussy. It is noteworthy that this album includes an even rarer work, "Suite for Orchestra," in a version for piano four hands.Composed around 1882-1884 but not performed for a long time, this work, finally released in 2008, is like a ballet suite, an interesting piece of music in which Debussy's inspiration is on full display. The music is rather similar to Dreve and Lalo, but there is a sense of Debussy's character all over the place, making it a very enjoyable work. Naxos Japan
