Description:
[Hear the voice of Tetzlaff's soul! Re-recordings of Brahms and the longed-for Berg] Solo, chamber music, concertos...Christian Tetzlaff is one of the most active violinists in Europe in recent years. Christian Tetzlaff is one of the most active violinists in Europe in recent years. Tetzlaff, who used to play intelligently and with great virtuosity, has in recent years begun to read music more deeply, to express himself with more variety and delicacy, and to play with stronger and deeper emotions. One such accomplishment was his original and convincing performance of the Beethoven and Sibelius Violin Concertos with the Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin under Robin Ticchiati. This disc by the same duo is also expected to be a great success. According to Tetzlaff, he has been playing both Brahms and Berg for more than 40 years, and has performed both works together more than 300 times. The Brahms is a re-recording for Tetzlaff. The first recording with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Däusgaard, was made in 2006/7 (21:27/08:59/07:45), whereas this recording is timed (20:35/07:52/07:23), suggesting a generally fast tempo setting. Tetzlaff wrote in his commentary on the overseas recording that he used to consider this piece as rural and pastoral, but now he feels Brahms' deep humanity such as loneliness and anxiety in the weak instructions and frequent use of minor keys. The Berg concerto was born from a tragic event, and while there are many parts of intense lamentation, the chorale at the end of the concerto leads to a beautiful sound as if to purify everything. Tetzlaff was scheduled to come to Japan at the end of February 2020 to perform Berg's concerto with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, but after finishing rehearsals, the concert was cancelled due to the spread of the new corona infection, and he regretfully returned home. He was scheduled to perform Berg's concerto with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in Japan, but the concert was cancelled after rehearsals due to the spread of the new strain of coronavirus, and he regrettably returned to Japan.
