Argentine composer Bottiroli lived in Cordoba all his life, and in addition to being a pianist and conductor, he was the director of the vocal group Sextet Loreley, which gave popular concerts on the radio and in the theater. As a composer, he left behind Liszt-like orchestral works influenced by Argentine folk music, but his 70 or so piano pieces are all small pieces that emphasize romantic idiom and improvisation, all of which explore his own means of expression within a defined form. The GRAND PIANO label has recorded all of his piano pieces, and this first album contains a variety of works in the form of "waltzes". Most of the waltz pieces are only about 3 minutes long, but they reflect the natural landscape of Argentina, people's lives, and his own experiences. The uniqueness of the seven "tribal dances" B114 included in the "Ten Minimal Waltzes," which depict the people of the Alessio family, Argentina's indigenous people, is unparalleled. All of these pieces run instantly through your ears in about 20 seconds, but they leave a strong impression.Pianist Banegas, who was taught by Bottiroli, gives a sympathetic performance. Naxos Japan
