Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Description:
Western music fans can't pass up these hidden gems and reissues that have not been available for a long time at affordable prices. The first volume in the series features 40 selections from rock/singer/songwriter/soul/funk from the 60s and 70s. Captain Beefheart's band, led by the genius Don Van Vleet, released their debut album on the newly established Buddha label. The band's debut album, released on the newly established Buddah label, was a reworking of blues and R&B in the Beefheart style, with less of the avant-garde aspect that would later become the reputation of the band. The young Ry Cooder's guitar can be heard on "Abba Zabba" and "Grown So Ugly". Guests include Taj Mahal and theremin player Samuel Hoffman. (1967 work) Limited Time Production Edition (until December 31, 2026) CD New liner notes No lyrics or bilingual translation Includes 7 bonus tracks Not for export
