Durand Jones & The Indications, a contemporary R&B/soul group from Bloomington, Indiana, have released their fourth album, *Flowers*, which marks a return to their roots and strongly reflects their maturity and confidence. Durand Jones & The Indications (a trio consisting of Durand Jones, Aaron Frazer, and Blake Rhein) are releasing their new album, *Flowers*, via Dead Oceans. Strongly reflecting the group’s maturity and confidence, *Flowers* features 11 tracks that are sophisticated, sexy, and perfect for a drive. It allows listeners to enjoy the softer side of soul and disco. On this fourth album—their first since 2021’s *Private Space*, which Billboard described as “infused with disco and funk”—The Indications were captivated by a special desire to return to their roots in a basement in Bloomington. It was in this space that they first discovered a kinship with raw funk and Southern soul, which served as the inspiration for their self-titled debut album. Just as they did with that 2016 release, TheIndications prioritized close collaboration while producing *Flowers*. Most of the self-produced album was written together at Rhein’s home studio in Chicago, and many tracks are based on one-take demos. Influenced both sonically and spiritually by the group’s past releases and their respective solo work, *Flowers* marks the next stage in TheIndications’ inspiring and soulful discography. They’re not just embracing their own flowers—they’re basking in their sweet, sexy scent.
