Ivar Bolton has been Principal Conductor of the Basel Symphony Orchestra since the beginning of the 2016/17 season. He has always had a special affinity for the music of his native England, and this album of relatively minor works by Benjamin Britten is exactly what Bolton wanted to do. The vocalists, including Padmore, are also a delight to listen to. Our Ancestors on the Hunt" was composed at the age of 23, and "Four French Songs" at just 14, a work of genius. Also included is a suite from the opera Gloriana, written for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. King International
