The world premiere recording of Austrian composer Ernst Kruschenek's early Serenade was premiered on July 31, 1921, at the "Donaueschingen Chamber Music Festival in Defense of Modern Musical Art. This festival eventually became known as the Donaueschingen Music Festival and is now one of the oldest professional music festivals in the world. Kruschenek's works are varied and diverse. His early works are in the late Romantic tradition, in the style of his teacher Franz Schreker, and later, influenced by Bartók and the New Viennese School, he composed in atonal style, visited Paris, and became friends with Stravinsky and the French sextet. He was also influenced by neoclassical and jazz music styles. The coupling combines works by Hans Gall, a composer who, as a grandson of Brahms, adhered to the traditional compositional techniques and melodic beauty of late Romanticism, and Krzysztof Penderecki, one of the leading masters of contemporary Polish music.Four clarinetists, led by clarinetist Kilian Herold, who became principal clarinetist of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen at the young age of 23 and has made many guest appearances with the Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic, will explore the essence of these works written in the neoclassical period. The concert will be held at the Tokyo M-Plus
