Although Busoni and Reger are well-known for their arrangements of Bach's works for piano, veteran German player Angelica Nebel is happy to present us with many lesser-known arrangements on this album. You can enjoy interesting arrangements from composers such as Walter Braunfels and Vaughan Williams to famous performers such as Tausig and Isidore Philippe. The program also includes hidden gems by Russian composers Igor Ilyin (1909-1959) and Sergei Didenko (1944-), as well as the highly acclaimed but rarely heard works by Murdoch, and is packed with numbers that will bring tears to the eyes of Bach fans and arrangers alike. Nebel, a professor at the Dusseldorf University of Music and Performing Arts, is at his best in this confident and dignified performance.
