Description:
Artist, producer, DJ, and culture vanguard Peggy Goo releases her long-awaited debut album on XL Recordings! Artist, producer, DJ, and culture vanguard Peggy Gu releases her long-awaited debut album on XL Recordings, a 10-track album that showcases the one and only Peggy Gu as an underground icon and international sensation. The 10-track album is the culmination of several years of work by the Korean-born artist, a one-of-a-kind underground scene icon and international sensation, who has followed through on his vision to become one of the world's most popular electronic music artists and DJs. The album, which includes previous singles such as the international chart-topping hit "(Like) Nanana" and the Lenny Kravitz collaboration "I Believe in Love Again," further evolves her artistry, boldly asserting herself through the kaleidoscopic lens of '90s house music. asserting herself through the kaleidoscopic lens of 90s house music. The preceding single "1+1=11", which was released at the same time as the album announcement, was the first music video by Olafur Eliasson, a highly acclaimed Icelandic-Danish artist and longtime friend of Peggy's here in Japan. The video was inspired by the work of "The weather project" (2003), "The New York City Waterfalls" (2008), "Ice Watch" (2014), and other works inspired by the workings of the natural world, embodied experiences, and the movements that became my passion as a teenage break dancer. Eliasson, a world-renowned artist whose work is inspired by movement, directs and stars in these films. The video for "1+1=11" is the first of three collaborations between Peggy and Olafur Eliasson. On the album cover, Peggy wears an "ear ring" *Psychoacoustic empathy amp (2023) created by Eliasson.Peggy also performs her own edited reading of "Your planet seen from within," a poem Eliasson wrote for the cover of TIME magazine in 2022, on the futuristic call to action song "Your Art," which opens the album. Other vocal collaborators include popular Puerto Rican rap vocalist Villano Antillano, but Peggy, the album's main performer, composer, producer, and mixer, showcases her own distinctive vocals on the first part of The album is a collection of songs that are not only a reflection of Peggy's own voice, but also of the music of the band. As a result, the album solidifies Peggy Goo's status as a true cultural pioneer, an artist who combines the nostalgic with the shockingly progressive.
