Originally a major talking point at the time of its release for its star-studded guest lineup and bold musical shift, this reissue—on colored vinyl—includes three previously unreleased tracks, including “Butterflies,” featuring Thundercat on bass! ■Mac Miller passed away suddenly in September 2018. His far too early death, which occurred just one month after the release of his studio album *SWIMMING*, sent shockwaves not only through the rap and hip-hop scenes but across the entire music industry. However, the music he left behind continues to have a profound influence on the hip-hop scene to this day. ■“THE DIVINE FEMININE,” a landmark album that could be called one of the most significant turning points in Mac Miller’s career, marks its 10th anniversary this September. Released in 2016 and debuting at No. 2 on the U.S. charts, *THEDIVINEFEMININE* garnered attention not only for featuring Ariana Grande—with whom he was dating at the time—but also for collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak—and garnered significant attention. It also surprised fans with a bold shift in direction: after pursuing his rapping skills on 2015’s *GO:ODAM*, he created a concept album exploring his perspective on the power of love and the sacred energy of women. Hailed by Pitchfork upon its release as “undoubtedly his most addictive work to date,” this album—in which he embraced his singing voice and adopted a genre-defying approach to songwriting—foreshadowed the evolution that would be further realized in his 2018 album *SWIMMING*. ■ This 10th-anniversary edition, set for release, is a 3-LP vinyl set featuring three previously unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions. Among the unreleased tracks is “Butterflies,” produced by Taylor Graves and featuring Thundercat—a longtime collaborator of Mac Miller—on bass. ■Mac Miller continues to exert a major influence on the hip-hop scene to this day.
