This album commemorates the 100th anniversary of Billie Holiday's birth with a collection of 20 of her outstanding songs that have been loved throughout the ages. Discovered by legendary producer John Hammond, Billie Holiday made her debut in 1933, and since then she has recorded many songs for Benny Goodman and pianist Teddy Wilson with Ben Webster, Cozy Wilson, and others. This album is a cross-label compilation of Billie Holiday's greatest recordings from 1935 to 1945, the peak of her career. Included are "Billie's Blues," "God Bless the Child," "Strange Fruit," "Gloomy Sunday," "You Go To MyHead," "Fine and Mellow," and more.
