The Quarter After
Description:
THEQUARTERAFTER, a psychedelic folk/baroque pop band based in Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2000, the project centers on brothers DOMINICCAMPANELLA on vocals and rhythm guitar, and ROBERTCAMPANELLA on lead guitar, who is also known for his work producing THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE and BEACHWOOD SPARKS. DAVE KOENIG, a former member of THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, plays bass, and NELSON BRAGG of the BRIAN WILSON BAND plays drums, forming a powerful rhythm section. With their 2005 debut album, *THE QUARTER AFTER*, they blended 12-string guitars—a direct legacy of THE BYRDS—with beautiful vocal harmonies, creating a new trend in the West Coast psychedelic scene. Their second album, released in 2008, featured guest appearances by VELVET CRUSH drummer RIC MENCK, power pop legend MATTHEW SWEET, and singer-songwriter MIRANDA LEE RICHARDS, further expanding on the folk-rock style of their previous work. Rich vocal harmonies intertwine with the warm tones of acoustic instruments, vividly carrying the traditional West Coast psychedelic sound into the modern era. This album, which has long been difficult to obtain in physical format, is now available for the first time on vinyl. Featuring 10 tracks that fill the space with nostalgic soundscapes—including “SANCTUARY,” where the bassline undulates while embracing spiritual themes; “EARLYMORNINGRIDER,” with its beautiful melodies and choruses highlighted by horns; and “CHANGESNEAR,” which is shrouded in a psychedelic, ethereal atmosphere—these 10 tracks fill the space with a nostalgic soundscape. The meticulous arrangements and the warm texture of the acoustic instruments paint cinematic scenes in the listener’s mind. A hidden gem of California’s psychedelic underground. This is an album with a universal appeal that deserves to be cherished across generations. First-ever vinyl release. Turquoise-colored vinyl. Gatefold sleeve.
