Ron Jefferson, who taught Al Foster, who played with the Miles Davis Band and others, how to play drums. Tricky Lofton, a blues trombone virtuoso who emerged on the West Coast. This CD couples two musicians who are rarely talked about, but who are held in high esteem by their peers. M-1 to M-6 are from Jefferson's album "Love Lifted Me. M-7 and after are from Lofton's "Brass Bag" album. 5 trombones, 1 trumpet, a wild and thick ensemble, conveying the best of black jazz.
