Description:

Minkowski's first recording of Mozart's "Requiem" with Bartabas at Mozart Week 2017 on video!Mozart Week, a music festival held in Salzburg around Mozart's birthday every January since 1956.The main program for 2017, The main program for 2017, Mozart's Requiem, performed by the Musiciens Musiciens du Palais du Louvre de Grenoble and Bartabas conducted by Marc Minkowski, is now available on DVD and Blu-ray. This is the first recording of Mozart's Requiem by Minkowski. Minkowski and Bartabas also performed together in Mozart's cantata "David the Repentant" (73-1704/73-1608) in 2015, which was noted for its outstanding performance.Once again, Baltabas, founder of the equestrian art group "Zingaro (Gypsy)," collaborated with a team from the Versailles Equestrian Academy, which opened in 2003 in the grand stables of the Palace of Versailles, to give a beautiful performance with eight white horses with their outstanding riding techniques. Minkowski's favorite horse was also in the performance. The venue, Felsenwrightschule, means an equestrian school on a rock wall. In the past, the movie "The Sound of Music" was filmed here. The performers are arranged on three levels in an archway carved out of the rock face, with the white horses performing on the lower stage and a conductor's podium next to it. Although unnatural for a concert venue, all the performers were concentrated, creating an impressive stage. The concert began with Mozart's "Miserere," followed by Handel's "Queen Caroline's Funeral Anthem 'The Way of Zion is Sorrowful,'" which is said to have influenced Mozart, "Requiem," and finally "Ave Verum Corpus," a beautiful and solemn program. This is the first recording of this repertoire. Mozart's "Requiem" is the first piece of repertoire in this recording. Minkowski uses the Landon edition. The reviser is the renowned musicologist Robbins Landon. Landon's edition adopts Eibler's supplementation of the confutatis from the Dies Ile, with further additions by Landon. The other parts of the work are based on the Jussmeyer edition. This edition was the occasion for a re-evaluation of the Jussmeyer edition.Bartabas' production is not a mere collaboration, but a careful harmonization with the music, natural movements as if part of the music, and the harmony of Minkowski's refined music-making, the delicate ensemble of the Musicians of the Palais du Louvre in Grenoble, the superb harmonies of the Salzburg Bach Choir The performance is a highly artistic one due to the King International
