Bregenz Music Festival 2024
The "Bregenz Festival" is an opera on a lake. The Bregenz Music Festival was started in 1946, funded by the wealthy citizens of Bregenz, located on the western edge of Austria near the borders of Germany and Switzerland.
The long-awaited video production of "Tancredi," performed at the Bregenz Festival in 2024, which drew much attention for its innovative staging by Jan Philipp Groeger, is now available.
Rossini's early masterpiece has been vividly reborn with a stage setting that reflects the darkness of modern society and a portrayal of love from a new perspective.
Innovative Staging
The film takes place in a modern society dominated by crime syndicates and realistically depicts the conflicts and tensions between the characters through drug investigations and gun battles. Furthermore, the relationship between Tancredi and Amenaide is reconstructed as a romance between two women, rather than the traditional heterosexual setting, and the story is sublimated into one that resonates with contemporary sensibilities while utilizing the setting of Tancredi, played by a mezzo-soprano in a trouser role.
An outstanding cast.
This bold reinterpretation is vividly portrayed by Anna Goryachova and Melissa Petit, who beautifully capture the emotional depth and tragedy of their love.Anna Goryachova passionately portrays Lord Tancredi, who is torn between love and honor, with her powerful yet sensitive singing. Melissa Petit vividly portrays the complex inner life of Amenaide with her deep emotional expression and clear voice.
Conductor Yi Cheng Lin
The orchestra will be conducted by Yee Chien-Lin. She is a Taiwan-born conductor and an up-and-coming musician active mainly in Europe. She is highly acclaimed in the fields of both opera and orchestral music, and is known for her sensitive and powerful music making, especially in dramatic works. She skillfully supports the tension and emotional ups and downs of the stage while bringing out the full beauty of Rossini's melodies.
